VALUE OF STUDENT INVOLVEMENT
OGM is devoted to the future health of mothers, babies and families. One of our goals is to ensure access to midwifery for generations to come. Since our inception in 1994, several dozen individuals have begun their paths of midwifery here.
Student midwives offer energy, enthusiasm and a fresh outlook to the practice. Senior midwives provide grounding and guidance to students in meeting their educational objectives.
Client participation with students is optional and the level of participation is negotiated on a case by case basis. Students who participate in hands-on care have received a temporary permit to practice, are certified in neonatal resuscitation, cpr and sterile technique.
Some students will only observe prenatal and postpartum visits, while others will attend births and have an integral role on the midwifery team.
Your feedback about student involvement is truly appreciated.
